Before a sitter can accept bookings
Our proposed launch standard requires: age 19 or older; verified government photo ID; confirmation of permission to work in Canada; a live interview; at least two years of relevant childcare experience; two references contacted by our team; current first aid and CPR appropriate for the role; and the background screening required for their role and eligibility.
The profile shows the specific check type and completion date. A criminal record check and a vulnerable sector check are different; we do not describe one as the other. Screening can identify some risks but cannot guarantee future behaviour or a successful match.
Before the first visit
Ask about experience with children of similar ages, your routine, food preparation and any relevant care requirements. Explain who may collect the children, how to reach you and what to do in an emergency. Choose someone whose experience matches the actual request.
During the visit
Sitters follow agreed childcare instructions, keep children supervised and communicate changes. No unauthorised visitors, intoxicants, smoking or vaping during care. No photos or recordings of children without specific permission; no social media posts about families.
